Franklin Martin

Franklin Martin and Bill Walton The Pro Development Camp (PDC) was established in 1996 by Coach Franklin Martin and NBA Hall of Fame Center, Bill Walton.  Martin, a former NCAA Division One Player, spent ten years coaching on the same level before becoming an NBA Agent.  Martin separated himself from the competition by signing what were deemed “marginal clients” by NBA Scouts and coaching them through his individual workout program to make them into NBA household names.  Developing his own talent, Martin then used his Master’s degree to negotiate top contracts.  From 1994 to 2001, Martin negotiated 13 NBA and 35 European contracts. Some of these included: Anthony Mason, Aaron Williams, Mike James, Dwayne Schintzius, Greg Dreiling, and Erick Strickland.

Martin sold his Sports Agency and re-entered the coaching world in 2000 when he accepted the head assistant coaching position with former NBA Head Coach Bob Hill (San Antonio Spurs).  After his tenure at Fordham, Martin moved his individual improvement program West and began working out NBA Players for the NBA Pre-Draft and Training Camps. Some of those players include: Yi Lianiang, Speedy Claxton, Ricky Sanchez, Chris Humphries, Howard Eisley, Momadou N'Diaye, Sean Marrion, Kevinn Pinkney, Pat Carroll, Nic Lewis, and Marcus Slaughter.

Beacuse Coach Martin trained his own players and then negotiated their contracts, he was credited for their improvements which led to careers once considered only DREAMS.

I worked hard enough to get a scholarship to Hofstra University in New York. That’s where I met coaches that worked on individual development. From Hubbie Brown, then the coach of the New York Knicks, to Rick Pitino at Five-Star, I absorbed from the best. When I became a coach, I sought advice from the greats, like Pete Newell and Bill Walton. Bill and I decided that NBA and NCAA Players needed as much fundamental teaching as the high school players so we started the first true all-position NBA – NCAA summer basketball camp, The PDC.

Today, that camp has been replaced by the PDC Program: a year-round, high-level, high-intensity basketball improvement system. Over the past ten years I’ve helped place over 60 kids into the college game. Through my 15 years of college playing and coaching, I’ve developed relationships that are only a phone call a way. When one of my players is ready, I make sure he has the opportunity to prove himself. But make no mistake about it….

When you’re not working, somewhere, someone else is, and when you meet, they will beat you; beat you for the loose ball, the winning bucket, and that scholarship.

If you’re serious about being a PLAYER and want to commit your heart and soul, come into the PDC family and we’ll help you turn your Dreams into Reality.
